It was sure gutless, but soooo dependable.(unless it was 10 Deg or lower outside) I was achieving 56 - 58 MPG. I laid it to rest after 480,000 miles when the timing belt broke at Water Road between Needles and Barstow,Calif. I miss it. It was truly the best car I have ever had. It is great to see VW going back to Diesel for the Golf. I was in the market 2 years ago for it and was told they were not being made then. Hooray! I had a 1984 VW Deisel Rabbit.
