we had a jetta diesel, awesome car. it purred on biodiesel. 45mpg around town 50mpg or better on the highway.

I also have a 2009 VW Jetta Diesel. There is simply no downside to this car. Great acceleration, incredible fuel economy, quiet, and no Diesel smell at all. Also, no battery that must be replaced eventually. This is the car of the future. Clean Diesel should be supported and encouraged at all levels.

As an owner of a BMW X5 35d I say “bring them; people will buy them”.
GM deserves what it got for ruining the US diesel market in the late 70s.

Well, considering my 2009 Jetta diesel gets about 40 in the city and 47 highway, I have to disagree with Bill Ford. Where is the 54 US MPG Focus Europe gets? The big 3 already have (diesel) cars that far exceed the mandated economy. They just sell them only overseas.
