DG008_019CA

The high-powered Caliber SRT4 is being cut from the Dodge lineup. The folks over at Car & Driver noticed the absence of the vehicle in Dodge’s 2010 product lineup and have confirmed with Chrysler PR that this is no mix-up. The SRT4 is dead. Sadly, this also means that no model in the company’s new lineup will feature the Caliber’s 285-hp, 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder.

Under new ownership by Fiat since the U.S. automaker emerged from bankruptcy protection, Chrysler’s Dodge brand will instead focus on moving more high-volume Caliber models.

The Caliber SRT4 is just the latest high-performance vehicle to become a casualty of the recession, with one of the car’s main competitors, the Chevy Cobalt SS Sedan having been eliminated from GM’s product lineup earlier this year.

  • Dodge banked on selling this car to tuners after the srt4.Dodge had to many suvs durango/nitro/journey/ caliber dodge needs to bring back the srt4 with the same starting hp as the caliber and awd.Not everyone can afford a challenger srt or charger srt. With the way dodge is going I will get the new camero. No fiat for me.

  • Not having a high performance 4 cyl vehicle will eventually bite them and Chevy in the butt….Ford is going to use their Ecotech (turbo) as options on their 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder ala the Taurus SHO and next the Flex….I’m very happy that I own a ‘08CSRT…Great bang for the buck…

  • THAT´S REALLY A SHAME! I THINK IT´S A VERY BAD IDEA, THE SRT4 TURBO WAS A PRODUCT THAT ALWAYS MADE A DIFERENCE WITH OTHER BRANDS.
