I had a 1995 5.0 It was a great car to tinker with. I am so glad that Ford has brought back 5.0 in such a SOLID setup. I went to A Nissan 350Z a few years ago. The Z is a great looking car, but I miss the natural muscle of my old 5.0... I hope and pray that FORD puts this motor in a two seater type Z car. I WOULD PAWN THE FARM FOR SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!!

Hmmmm.... 3,875 lbs for the manual and 4,000 lbs for the auto. So much for the supposed power/weight advantage. Not as impressed as all the mustang fanboy nutt swingers are shooting their jizz over this. Atleast these new mustangs may be more distinguishable in my rear view mirror.

Great looking car, glad to see ford is stepping up to others, but it now weighs almost 4000 lbs(and 4000 lbs with the manual) so I highly doubt its going to beat the camaro since it just weighs the same with less hp and torque, also the 5L is bigger in actual size than the 6.2L LS3 because its DOHC and on a v8 that makes for MASSIVE cylinder heads, the ol 6.2L OHV is old tech mixed with new and still gets the same gas mileage if not slightly better with more power.

I think this will give Camaro's (not so much challenger because the never acually compete in the Muscle car comparisons) a run for their money! With less wieght and only 14 hp to make up for the 2011 Mustang has got it. Just look back at the 4.6/5.4 of before, anytime Ford put those magic 4v DOHC heads on these modular motors magic happened (Mach 1, Terminator, Shelby, etc.)

Now I know the `Maro is a 6.2 and people say that "there is no replacement for displacement", sure this is it is called technology.

I am happy to see Ford "pulling their heads out" and building the motors and cars I always knew they could.

I for sure will be buying a GT, one way or another. They have my $28-38K-ish!

The gov-motor (GM) lovers are definitely scared. Ford's 5.0 makes similar power as their 6+ litre. The current 4.6 already gets favorable and sometimes top ratings when compared to the camaro/challenger in actual road tests. This 5.0 won't need boost to hang with those sedan chassis' with 2 doors lopped off. Ford is the only domestic that knows how to engineer a quality vehicle.

hmmmm, as a die hard GM guy and LS-series engine fanatic, i must say, well done Ford! personnaly the use of the 5.0 badge means squat (although i am from the generation that made the 5.0 legendary...if only in our imaginations), the reality is if you are serious about Muscle car performance, a 5.0L engine of any type is paltry at best. but what makes me so excited about this engine is it's solid performance minded engineering (unlike the old swiss cheese wheezy, low reving 5.0L of old. i mean deep skirted block, 6 bolt mains, iron block caps, strength webbing on the block, variable valve timming on the intake AND exhaust side, and best yet, a FORDGED CRANK! a definate must! because we all know that to hang with all those LS2s, and LS3, this engine is gonna need BOOST! and plenty of it!

i may be looking to get one of these in the future. only a fool would try and enhance it N/A. with the dual OHC set up heads and cams are gonna be murder on the wallet. trust in the strenght of that crank and go for nitrous, superchargers or for the true kill TURBOS!!

GOOD WORK FORD!!
