The new Acura TSX Sport Wagon was unveiled today at the New York Auto Show.

Acura is positioning the TSX Sport Wagon as an entry level luxury utility vehicle, targeting the under-30 demographic, the same crowd that makes up a bulk of the TSX sedan’s sales.

The TSX Wagon is powered by a 2.4l i-VTEC four-cylinder engine paired with a sequential SportShift five-speed automatic transmission. While the EPA hasn’t given its final fuel mileage figures, Acura estimates the TSX Sport Wagon gets 30 mpg.

The rear cargo space has a removable side panel for carrying wider items such as golf clubs. An integrated under-floor bin can be used as a hidden storage area for valuables such as laptops.

Luxury features include a hard-drive navigation system, an ELS premium sound system, leather seats, integrated Bluetooth, power glass moonroof and dual-zone climate control.

I’ve been hoping for the wagon to be available with a 6spd manual ever since I heard Honda was going to bring the TSX wagon to the states last year. What a disappointment to hear it’ll only be available with an automatic. I see they bulked up the rear bumper as well for the US market. The Euro/Japanese version has a much cleaner bumper since the hatch and bumper are flush.

I guess I’ll head down to the local Acura dealer and see what kind of deal they’ll offer. All in all, I’m glad they’re bringing the wagon version to the states in this land of SUV’s.
