The big, bulky owners manual occupying precious glove box space may soon become a relic for Jeep owners, as the 2011 Grand Cherokee will be the brand’s first vehicle to bring the owners manual to a variety of smartphones. In addition to the owners manual, users will be able to view videos, contact other Grand Cherokee owners and give Chrysler feedback on various aspects of the car.

The smartphone owners manual will be available first for the iPhone, and then hit the Blackberry and Android platforms. As Autoblog astutely pointed out, when smartphones become obsolete in a few years, what will happen to the owners manuals? We hope that a hard copy will still be available. For all the wonders of technology, paper will never suffer from technical glitches, and when a Check Engine Light comes on ten years down the road, we doubt that anyone will dust off their old smartphone to look up the possible problem.

And for we few that don’t own smartphones? So, every Grand Cherokee owner will know about every other Grand Cherokee owner, track their movements, and maybe even allows carjackers an easier way of finding this model. I love this plan!

I don’t think the plan ever said anything about eliminating owners manual all together, its an addition to what is already in the vehicle!!

Most Likely it’s going to be in PDF format, which means you can transfer it to other devices like your computer. I think they are just selling the smart phone angle because it sounds more high tech and everyone seems to be about their smart phones these days/. I have a scanned PDF copy of the Haynes manual for every vehicle I’ve owned in the past 10 years. I just keep a digital library on an external hard drive. If I need to reference something I know where it is. If I had an iPhone or even a Kindle I could store my manuals on those devices already.

As a matter of fact I just found the Digital copy for the 2006 Owner’s manual on Scribd.com. You could just download that and save it on your iPhone,iPad, Kindle, netbook or whatever.

I am pissed that there is no way of finding the manual for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 70th anniversary edition. I have been on my computer for 3hrs trying to find this particular manual. (NO LUCK) I would like a manual to put in my truck for emergenies. I am not going to buy a smartphone because I do not like that big phone. (THEY DON’T WORK PROPERLY) Please provide a website that has the manual for the 70th anniversary edition not just the Jeep Grand cherokee 2011 . The dealership man gave me a manual for the 2012 model Grand Cherokee. (stupid) I REALLY WOULD LIKE A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 70TH ANNIVERSARY MANUAL.
