Although Audi showed an electric version of their A1 subcompact at March’s Geneva Auto Show, but for those of you looking for it to arrive on dealer lots, we have some bad news.

Audi CEO Rupert Stadler confirmed that the diminutive EV would not be making it to production, but threw out two enticing bits of information. For eco-conscious types, a stop-start system as well as a “brake regeneration system” (we’re assuming a hybrid, but no further details were given) will be available, while an S1 will make its debut during the Paris Auto Show this September. The S1 should be similar to the Volkswagen Polo GTI, albeit with a more upscale interior and Audi exterior styling.
