With several spy shots having already hit the interwebs, this is the first video of the new 2012 Chevy Camaro Z28 undergoing testing on the Nürburgring in Germany.

Designed to rival the Ford Shelby GT500, the Camaro Z28 is all but confirmed to get the Cadillac CTS-V’s supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 with a solid 550-hp (likely more). Combined with the Camaro’s fully independent suspension, 20-inch wheels and what will no doubt be a high-performance Brembo brake setup, it should make for quite a package – although hopefully GM’s engineers were able to cut some weight from the beast.

Chevy continues to be silent on Camaro Z28 news, but we’d expect such an iconic American car to debut at (where else?) the Detroit Auto Show in January.

Check out the video and our rendering of the 2010 Z28 after the jump:

Can anyone tell what car that is behind the Tiguan at about 2.50. It looks like a BMW because of the Double kidneys but im not too sure.

Should edit to say North American car. It’s hardly iconic or American if it’s built in Canada. Nothing against Canada just pointing out what it is. I’ll stick with my Mustang.
