The Camaro is a hit. Need proof? Apart from the already impressive sales numbers for the standard V6 and SS models, Chevy found 100 buyers for all of its Neiman Marcus Edition Camaro Convertibles, with the extravagantly priced ($75,000) muscle cars selling out in just 3 minutes.

With some simple yet shocking math, that’s a total of 7.5 million in Camaros. (Whoever thought up this marketing plan is getting a big bonus for 2010).

The 100 Neiman Marcus Camaro Convertibles get a Deep Bordeaux paint job and upgraded leather interior, while power comes from the 6.2-liter V8.

For 2011 Infiniti has released a round of updates to its entry-level EX35 crossover, with one of the biggest changes being the addition of a 7-speed automatic transmission. The 7-speed box is used across the rest of Infiniti’s lineup and while we’re surprised the EX hasn’t been upgraded to the 3.7-liter V6 (from the current 3.5L) the new transmission will most certainly improve fuel economy by a few ticks, and is also likely to result in slightly improve acceleration. (No official EPA fuel economy numbers are yet available).

Other upgrades for the sporty luxury crossover include now standard 18-inch wheels (up from 17s), standard dual-zone automatic climate control, new white gauges and an updated Premium Package that includes both the Bose and Around View Monitor Packages. Three new exterior colors are also offered for 2011: Arctic Blue, Midnight Garnet and Graphite Shadow. In addition, 19-inch wheels are now included in the Deluxe Touring Package.

Pricing has received a slight bump, although the EX still represents a bargain compared to European offerings. Base models start at $34,150 ($35,550 AWD), while Journey models start at $36,350 ($37,750 AWD).

Mansory has just debuts its latest creation, which might be one of their cleanest: the Range Rover Sport. In true Mansory fashion, this Land Rover is much more aggressive in design and definitely boasts the power to back it up. And of course, Mansory has outfitted the Range Rover Sport with a widebody conversion, allowing them to fit massive 23-inch wheels on their demo car.

Starting with the performance upgrades, Mansory has increased horsepower output by around 30-hp regardless of the Range Rover model. Torque is increased up to 30 ft-lbs as well. This is done through a revised ECU tune, sport exhaust system and sport air filters.

On the exterior, the front is widened around 2.35-inches while the rear gets about 3.15-inch allowing Mansory to outfit the Range Rover Sport with 315/25/23 rubber. The car is also lowered about 1.2-inch closer to the ground.

Along with the widebody, Mansory has a collection of aerodynamic components constructed from PU-RIM plastic. The new front spoiler features LEDs and a more aggressive carbon fiber hood. The hood features a large dome flowing more air into the engine bay. In the rear is a carbon fiber diffuser and roof spoiler.

And needless to say, Mansory decorated up the interior with a new steering wheel and aluminum pedals. Everything has been reupholstered in fine leather and can be contrasted with wood or carbon accents.

Think of the Klutch22 iPhone app as social media for your car.

This cool new app hooks you up to a web community via the iPhone that lets you search and find your favorite rides close to you. You can also log in your ride so others can find you. It’s a real-time car positioning system that shows you who’s driving what in your area. Users can create a ‘krew’ with others who share the same auto passion or simply search your dream cars around town.

It seems a little auto-stalkerish, but it you just have to know who is driving what at all times, this may be the app for you. You have to register before you can let others know what kind of car you’re riding around in, and you can even “like” other members’ rides. It is a great way to meet other car enthusiasts who share you passion for a particular car, but if you owned a really expensive ride, would you want everyone to know where it was at all times?

You can buy the app at iTunes or check out the Klutch22 site here.

As the impending CAFE 35 mpg standards loom ever closer, automakers are doing everything they can to improve fuel efficiency in their vehicles. One option is to utilize a new type of engine oil.

General Motors will pour Dexos 1 (a version of the new GF-5 or SN), into the crankcase of every engine in it’s 2011 U.S. vehicle fleet. This new oil replaces the previous GF-4 standard and is designed to improve protection and reduce wear, as well as extending intervals between oil changes. According to Mark Ferner, manager of the Lubricants technology group at Shell, “GF-5 and Dexos1 oils have a more robust formulation that should give you better contributions to fuel economy, cleanliness and fuel emissions.”

That robust formulation is also designed to improve heat resistance and reduce the risk of thermal breakdown under high heat situations – i.e. turbocharged and supercharged engines – which GM and other automakers are increasingly adopting in order to maximize power, while at the same enabling smaller displacements to improve fuel economy.

However, what’s interesting is that Dexos 1 and GF-5 use slightly different testing methods, the former using a European standard to gain market approval, while GF-5 was tested by the American Petroleum Institute. Dexos 1, which is a GM licensed brand of oil, is only available as a synthetic oil, whereas GF-5 can be formulated from mineral deposits or synthetically.

GM began work on Dexos 1 back in 2006 and this new oil was conceived as a lube that could meet the requirements of powertrains in all GM vehicles around the world. In addition, the company has also developed Dexos2 an oil designed for light-duty diesel engines, which was launched in Europe earlier this year.

Hyundai has yet another SEMA car, this time in the form of a hotted up Genesis Coupe. While the car is undoubtedly a show car, a Gogogear car is slated to run in the U.S Touring Car Championship, a sanctioned sports car class overseen by the National Auto Sports Association.

Nobody would ever confuse this car, with a full interior and heavy, gloss black rims for a race car, the car’s powertrain stays pretty close to stock, with a bolt on intake and exhaust, while the the suspension has been heavily overworked with ARK shocks, springs and coilover sleeves as well as QA1 bearings. Stoptech brakes and Earl’s oil lines and associated fittings help the car achieve 1.4 lateral G’s during cornering, and keep oil flowing to the engine under these conditions.

Many may scratch their heads at the “mild” nature of the engine mods, but in many sanctioned racing series, these are tightly restricted, while chassis tweaks are where many cars make up their speed. We’re happy to see Gogogear take this approach, rather than the dreadful “Import2NR” style that still exists in the sport compact community.

First, the bad news; Mercedes-Benz is phasing out their awesome 6.2L naturally aspirated V8 in the CL63 and S63. The good news is that the replacement is a 5.5L twin turbo V8 engine making even more power – 536 horsepower and 590 lb-ft to be exact.

The S63 will start at $138,875 while the CL63 will retail for $151, 125, a funny notion considering you’re essentially just paying about $12,000 for two less doors. The new 5.5L engine sees a 20 percent improvement in mileage thanks to direct injection and start/stop technology.

Hyundai‘s first entry into the ultra-premium sector, the 2011 Equus, will start at $58,000 in Signature trim. For an extra $6,500, buyers can upgrade to the Equus Ultimate, which is equipped fairly differently from the Signature.

The Ultimate package features a four-seater arrangement, similar to a Maybach, with reclining seats, as well as a massage function and leg support for the passenger side seat, a cooling system and an entertainment screen. Also available is a refrigerator, power headrests and vanity mirrors – all of which are for the rear seat area, which should give you a clue as to what the Equus Ultimate is really meant for.

All Equus owners will get an Apple iPad with a pre-loaded owners manual, as well as a pick-up and drop-off service for service appointments, where a dealership employee will collect and return your Equus and loan you a Genesis free of charge while your vehicle is being serviced.

Sorry, V10 fans. Turns out that the Chrysler 300 SRT10 that we all thought would be a SEMA debut is actually a one-off car created by a Dodge dealership near Salt Lake City.

With a new 300 around the corner, it seemed strange for Chrysler to release an “old” look car than a brand-spanking new design. Furthermore, the 300 in question looks more like a standard 300 than a real SRT-8, with the more aggressive fascia and integrated dual exhaust. It turns out that the car was originally a V6 powered “Touring” model before it got the big V10 swap.

The good news is that the car is privately owned, and it’s conceivable that the car may one day be for sale.
