While BMW is marketing itself as a sustainable automaker, pushing its “efficient dynamics” technologies, behind the scenes the accountants and execs still know that big gas guzzling SUVs are a quick way to make a fast buck. It’s for this reason that the German automaker is reportedly looking to introduce a larger X7 SUV.
According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, BMW is now “reconsidering its decision to cancel a new large SUV, which was meant mainly for U.S. buyers.”
Likely based on the same architecture as the X5, the vehicle would make economic sense, especially with the recovering economy and large SUV sales taking off. Plus, it would finally give BMW a rival to the Mercedes GL Class SUV.
