There’s no word on if it will be a production model or a concept, but the car will be crucial for the Lexus brand with little in the way of new product recently while competitors in the segment (including the new BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class) have jumped well-beyond the GS.
Earlier this week, Toyota announced its new Global Vision, which indicated the automaker’s intentions for the Lexus brand, noting quality and value as key components, while looking to add an emotional ride, advanced technology and a focus on design.
Perhaps more exciting is news that Scion will reveal a version of the Toyota FT-86. Styled similar to the FT-86 II Concept that debuted recently at the Geneva Auto Show, the Scion is expected to be called the FT-S. Rather than a production model it will be yet another concept, with the Toyota branded version to bow at the Tokyo Auto Show in the Fall.
While no source has been identified, in recent conversations with individuals inside Toyota we’d put good money on the rumors.
