Dubbed ‘Retro Electro’ this distinctive green, 1958 Chevrolet Apache pickup is part of Toronto based Steam Whistle Brewing Company’s fleet of ‘classic’ vehicles used for promotions and special events.

However, given the current high profile of environmental issues, it’s been converted to run on pure electric power as part of the brewery’s Green initiatives program. Outfitted with an electric motor from Azure Dynamics (the same folks that supply them for the electric Ford Transit Connect), plus 24 Lithium batteries, Retro Electro is said to generate 464 lb-ft of torque at just 200 rpm and cover a range of 93 miles.

That makes it more than up to the job of delivering and promoting Steam Whistle beer to downtown Toronto establishments and it’s certainly far cooler than delivering said goods in a Transit Connect.
