The Ford Mustang has beaten the Chevrolet Camaro in sales for the month of June 2011. A great comeback considering the Mustang suffered one of its worst months in May with 35% decrease in sales over the same month of the previous year and just 6,607 sales. This June, 8,835 Mustangs were sold compared to 8,486 Camaros.

The Mustang won this month but the Camaro has had strong sales numbers throughout the first half of the year with 48,761 sales compared to the Mustang with 39,041 units sold.  The Dodge Challenger was left in the dust with 3,384 sales in June and 20,161 in the first half year.

would love the mustang better if it was a foot or so longer. Never have cared for the newer Camaro. They should have stayed closer to the 69 Camaro styling as the Challenger did with their earlier styling. The Challenger is an excellent comeback car with their styling.

But the other selling point is the interior and I haven’t seen the interiors in a while to recall them. That to me makes or brakes a car. Because that is where you spend most of your time.

CA if interiors are the key you will not want the Camaro.
If gas economy is the key you will want the Mustang.
Ford GM Dodge_ same old same old. I think it is great, and American, and fun.
Buy what you like. I bought the Mustang, why I am a Ford guy. A Camaro buyer
is a Chevy guy and so on. The one appealing factor of Mustang is it is true to the original: 107″ wheel base in 1967, 1968 etc. 107 wheel base today. Solid rear
axle. With the 2011 coyote 5.0 and 2012 Boss 302 Mustang is becoming a respectable
road course car. To me “hot rod” is part of the Mustang mystique. I like that solid
rear axle, traction lock, push you back in the seat feel. Stangs are not rear engine Euro IRS Polished Teak wood art deco interior go carts. They are American
hot rods, power, cool, fun, fast, and affordable. Great bang for the buck great stang for the buck. It is all I can afford, but I am real happy to have one.

Funny, my neighbor bought a GT in the same color as the headline pic about a month and a half ago. Two weeks go by and there is another one JUST LIKE IT. I guess they liked it. A lot. That accounts for 1 or 2 of the 349 extra ponies for the month.

There are now at least 5 GTs on my block and none are mine.
