We’ve seen Jeremy Clarkson review some of the most beautiful and exotic cars ranging from the Bugatti Veyron to the classic Jaguar E-Type. We’ve also seen him review some of the most hideous cars like the Reliant Robin, but military vehicles? From a video game? This is a first.

Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson will be spicing up Forza Motorsport 4 with a featured role in the XBOX 360 game. With the game ready for release in October, this commercial has been released featuring the high tech M12 FAV Warthog from Halo, and the witty Jeremy Clarkson. Now gamers and auto enthusiasts are getting the best of both worlds. Interestingly, the Warthog won’t be the only vehicle that will receive Clarkson’s review. Apparently the game’s Autovista model will introduce players to a wide variety of unique vehicles.

In the short commercial, Jezza approaches the imaginary assault vehicle with his typical sarcasm and dry sense of humor, that we’ve come to know and love from his fantastic TV show. Check out the video after the jump to see the tank like all-terrain vehicle.

The high revving 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 is known strictly for its energized 5.0-liter V8 and its adjustable suspension because it was built as a track car. It was built to go fast and handle well in the corners but one aspect of the car that could use some work is the no-frills interior.

Several owners have been complaining that the interior could use some more technology. It looks as though they may be getting their wish, as a leaked list of features includes the SYNC system. The Boss will also be getting a 4.2-inch LCD message center that will likely be the same one currently used in the Explorer and F-150. The Boss will also get HID headlights, although it is unclear whether they will be standard or an option, but what has been confirmed is that the graphics package will be available, similar to that of the 1970 Boss 302.

Today was a great day for MINI, as the two millionth Cooper rolled off the assembly line, ten years after the start of production. British Prime Minister David Cameron was even present at the Oxford plant to drive the car out of the factory.

The MINI convertible was complete with special paintwork and extras. David Cameron declared that the ceremony that, “It’s a real privilege to drive this true British icon off the production line today. The 2 millionth MINI to be made here in Oxford is a fantastic symbol of the UK’s strength in the global automotive industry and a great British manufacturing success story. MINI is not just a symbol of our industrial past, but also the great industrial future we want to build.”

When production began at the Oxford Plant in 2001, 2,400 employees worked a single shift producing 300 cars a day. Today production has expanded to include 3,700 employees working two shifts, five days a week, building 900 cars a day. The maximum capacity of the plant has also increased from 100,000 units per year in 2001, to 200,000 units ten years later. Currently, the MINI is delivered to customers in more than 90 countries across the globe.

Jürgen Hedrich, head of Plant Oxford said: “This marks a tremendous milestone for Plant Oxford and its employees. Oxford has been the heart of MINI production for ten years. Our employees are proud to be part of this brand’s success.”

Never far from controversy, former Vice-President Dick Cheney has stirred the pot again, this time, declaring that he was against government handouts to automakers Chrysler and General Motors.

In his new memoir ‘In My Time,’ Cheney states “Although I understood the reasoning, I would have preferred that the government not get involved and was disappointed — but not surprised — when the Obama administration significantly increased the government intervention in the automobile industry shortly after taking office.”

That said, Cheney was in favor of saving the nation’s banks, even though many economists believe it was their recklessness that caused financial turmoil in the first place.  In reference to America’s financial institutions he remarked that “providing sufficient support to avoid the collapse of our banking system was something only the federal government could do. But, all things considered, companies in the private sector should be judged in the marketplace. Having the government intervene was not, in my opinion, a good idea.”

Nevertheless despite the views of his V-P and some members of Congress, then President George W. Bush approved a partial rescue package for Chrysler and GM, with some $17.4 billion set aside for both automakers, plus an additional $7.5 billion for their financial arms, GMAC and Chrysler Financial Services.

In reference to the bailout, Bush stated that, ”the immediate bankruptcy of the Big Three could cost more than a million jobs, decrease tax revenues by $150 billion and set back America’s GDP by hundreds of billions of dollars,” though he did say,”it was frustrating to have the automakers’ rescue be my last major economic decision.”

As it stands today; Chrysler has paid back its portion of the loan provided under the Obama Adminstration, not the Bush loan, which has been written off. General Motors has paid off all the loan money it received, but unless it’s second Public Offering of shares sees a sizeable jump in the stock price, it is unlikely GM will be able to recoup all of the money invested in it by the US Treasury.

Getting back to Cheney, the auto bailout isn’t the only thing in his memoir likely to raise hairs, he also makes comments declaring that the invasion of Iraq hasn’t hurt America’s reputation overseas. Cheney’s memoir has been on sale at bookstores since last Thursday.

If you can afford a Porsche Panamera, fuel prices are probably don’t weigh on your mind much. But that’s not stopping Porsche from introducing a vehicle that can go 750 miles on one 21 gallon fuel tank.

The Porsche Panamera diesel is capable of 37 mpg (on the highway, we assume) when equipped with low-rolling resistance tires. Granted, those two are the antithesis of what the Porsche brand used to stand for, but our current times require us to sacrifice a pound of flesh to the secular cult of environmentalism – luckily for the rest of us, there’s the GT3 RS 4.0.

With a 3.0L V6 making 250 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, the Panamera uses an 8-speed automatic to put power to the ground. Porsche will unveil their newest oil burner at the 2011 Frankfurt Autoshow and AutoGuide will be on hand to cover it live starting September 13th.

If Porsche and Ferrari are ever caught sitting in a tree, you can bet they would probably be arm wrestling each other rather than kissing.

Their rivalry has been non-stop for over 50-years now and its showing no signs of slowing down.

This week, Porsche’s CEO Mathhias Müller said he was “irritated” that his company does not have a direct rival for the 8-cylinder Ferrari’s. Sure the flat-six turbocharged motors can put up numbers to match anything from Maranello, but the luxury sportscar buyers seem to prefer larger displacement, naturally aspirated engines, and Porsche does not offer that at the moment.

But just because they don’t have one now, does not mean they won’t ever have them. It is no secret that Porsche is looking to develop a supercar that will be placed above the current 911-range. That means they want to butt heads with the 458 Italia.

Rumor has it that Porsche is developing a modular engine that can be configured to run either as a flat-four, flat-six or even a flat-eight cylinder unit.

This engine will make its way into their new supercar, which some are dubbing as the spiritual successor to the legendary 959 (above.) Unfortunately, no timeline has been announced.

If ever there was a vehicle that people seem to have completely forgotten about, it’s the Lincoln Navigator.

Once a popular SUV that battled head on with the likes of the Cadillac Escalade, the Navigator has failed to win the affections of many buyers who in the luxury SUV segment.

The Navigator is still around, and according to some rumors, an updated Navigator will bow for the 2013 model year, with some styling tweaks, and a rather big mechanical change.

Yes, like most of Ford‘s vehicles, the Navigator will also gain an EcoBoost engine, possibly the same one found in the F-150 pick-up truck.

It is not known if the motor will be tweaked for the big Lincoln, but it has already impressed many auto journalists and buyers with its fuel-economy and power (365 hp, 420 lb-ft of torque).

Expect the new Navigator to arrive in showroom’s by sometime next year.

Land Rover DC100 Defender Concept 02.jpg

Off-roaders may want to listen up, this is your lucky day. Land Rover has confirmed production for the next-gen Defender SUV. The British automaker intends to launch a new Defender in 2015, and the concept version (DC100) will be present at next month’s Frankfurt Auto Show.

Gerry McGovern, Director of Design for Land Rover weighed in on the issue saying, “Replacing the iconic Defender is one of the biggest challenges in the automotive design world; it is a car that inspires people worldwide.  This isn’t a production-ready concept but the beginning of a four-year journey to design a relevant Defender for the 21st century.”

The next-gen Defender is likely to be quite different than the old version in several ways. It will have a more refined design with more technological features and modern structural materials. However the new version will likely stick to the traditional simplistic approach for which the Defender is well-known.

John Edwards, Global Brand Director, Land Rover added:”Loved the world over for its simple, honest and distinctive design, we are determined that the new Defender will be true to its heritage, while meeting the requirements of a changing global market. We plan to engage with existing and potential customers to help us finalize the details of the new vehicle.  One thing’s for sure, it’s going to be an exciting journey, and we can’t wait to get going.”
