BMW has announced its extensive plans for the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, with the 6 Series badge taking center stage. Set to make their world premieres are the new 6 Series Gran Coupe, the updated 2013 X6 and the stunning new M6 Coupe and Convertible.
The Gran Coupe will arrive in sleek bodywork as a rival for the Porsche Panamera, Mercedes CLS and Audi A7. Offering in base 640i trim with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder it makes 315 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. A 650i model will deliver 445-hp and 480 lb-ft of torque from a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. All that style will, however, set you back with a starting price of $76,895 – almost $25,000 over a 535i.
M6 coupe and convertible models both come with a high-output twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 with 560 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. Other highlights include a carbon fiber roof and optional Carbon Ceramic brakes, which weigh 42.8 lbs lighter than the standard units and come with bright gold calipers.
In addition, BMW will show off the first models in its M Performance vehicle line, using a tri-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six diesel motor making 381-hp and an incredible 546 lb-ft of torque.
Along with the updated 2013 X6, BMW plans to showcase its new 3 Series with several smaller gasoline and diesel engines for Europe. Plus, BMW will continue to show-off the i3 and i8 concept cars.
