Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S Manual Gets 22-MPG City, 30-MPG Highway

Excited for the new Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S? We already know how the FR-S performs – read our review here – but up until now, we hadn’t a real clue what its fuel economy would be like.

Official EPA fuel efficiency figures have been posted on, and it appears the 2.0L four-cylinder powered BRZ and FR-S will get 22-mpg city, 30-mpg highway.

Those are the figures for the manual-equipped models, while the automatics should get around 25-mpg city, 34-mpg highway.

Who cares about MPG … it’s a Sports Car! I’ll take more power and worse MPG. btw. our Z-06 gets 3.5 mpg Auto crossing in the dry, 4.5 in the wet and 30 mpg on the hwy. Life’s Good! First photos of the FR-S auto crossing:

My new BRZ limited 6 spped manual is getting 32mpg and its not broke in yet. Thats a combo of driving and some with an extra heavy right foot. Im impressed so far!

Since my manual was purchased with 6 miles, the computer indicated that the mpg was 8 mpg. Without resetting, and after driving 1100 miles, it shows 30 mpg. I’m impressed.
