The Nissan Delta Wing is a unique design meant to build on and reinvent modern race cars. At this past weekend’s 12 hours of Sebring, Nissan brought its newest race toy to preview for fans as well as real-world testing on the famous track.
The Delta wing runs with a turbocharged, direct-injection 1.6-liter 4-cylinder that produces around 300 hp. It is also half the weight of most of its competitors, making it a legitimate contender. The Delta Wing will be running in the 24 hours of Le Mans endurance race, but won’t be officially competing for points. Instead, the car’s presence will represent a speculative window into the future of racing.
We will have to wait for Le Mans to see if the Delta Wing can perform alongside other race cars, but until then watch the video below of the Nissan powered race car running laps at Sebring.
