F1 drivers have to overcome a lot of obstacles to win: other racers, car problems, weather, but the seating position of the racers also provides a challenge.
As F1 racer Nico Rosberg explains and demonstrates in this video, you are practically lying down when piloting the car. This helps to keep the racers weight low down in car, keeping the center of gravity down low. As the in-cockpit footage shows, it is a tight squeeze in an F1 car. Rosberg says that he even has trouble seeing over the steering wheel sometimes as his seat is so low.
It is hard to see the racers body position when watching a race, so watch the video below which highlights how Formula racers fit in their cars.
