He led Ford through the recession of the early nineties and is attributed with carrying the company out of an economic downturn, and today it is being reported that former CEO of Ford Motor Company, Harold ‘Red’ Poling, has passed away. 

Poling was 86 years old at the time of his passing, which happened this Saturday in Pacific Grove, Calif. He is well known for the strict quality regulations that he introduced to Ford, which was part of the reason for the companies turn around in the early nineties.

“Red Poling was an extraordinary leader who had a profound impact on Ford Motor Company and everyone who worked with him.  With a list of accomplishments that span 43 years, including leading the company through a remarkable turnaround during the 1980s and 1990s, Red was respected by all for his leadership, his passion for being the low-cost producer and  his genuine affinity for people.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family,” said executive chairman Bill Ford.
