The Infiniti G37 is getting a refresh, and will arrive in the spring of next year as a 2014 model year car, according to a high level exec at Nissan.
No details were released besides the timing of the expected release, but it is almost assured that the new G37 will benefit from Nissan’s engine building partnership with Mercedes-Benz. The initial development is supposed to be a four-cylinder engine meant for the Mercedes C-Class, but watch for it as the new base engine in the G37 that will replace the current V6 offering.
The G37 may also receive a hybrid powertrain, sourced from the M35h, that uses a V6 mated to an electric motor. The G22d (shown above) name has also been trademarked by Infiniti, signaling that there will diesel version of the car.
Considering that the Lexus IS, arguably the G’s largest competitor, was just redesigned, the new G37 needs to keep up.
