Amphicars were a bad idea from day one, there’s no arguing about it. Despite that, someone still sees value in building a car to tackle the amphibious land speed record.
Project Sea Lion, or the ugliest car in the world as we’re calling it, uses a Mazda 13b Rotary Engine and looks like an ant eater. It can lift its snout into the air to create a upturned water ski-like design that functions as the front end of a boat.
Capable of reaching a top speed of 180 mph, this is the world’s fastest vehicle that can drive on pavement and motor around in the water. Unfortunately, it can’t cap the current 60 mph record for an amphibious vehicle on the water, but the quirky car can be had for a laughable $259,500.
Made from tig-welded aluminum, the it looks like it came right out of a spy movie, but for more than a quarter-million dollars it’s hard to see such a unique car selling very easily.
Full details on the car are available at the Fantasy Junction website, the broker selling the car. Otherwise just watch the video below.
