The Volkswagen Scirocco might make its way to America next year, but until then all we can do is be jealous of the Europeans who get to buy the newly announced Volkswagen Scirocco GTS.

Resurrecting the name from the original Mark II Scirocco GTS, the new version brings back the racing inspired roots of the original. The Scirocco GTS will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo engine that produces 210 hp.

A wide racing stripe, flared side skirts, colour-coded side moldings, a diffuser section on the rear bumper, red mirror casings and red brake calipers are added to the GTS to make sure the look matches the car’s sporty nature. Additionally, 18-inch alloy wheels and GTS badges complete the aesthetics of the GTS.

The interior will find itself with a new look as well, sporting black leather seats with red stitching, metal gas and brake pedals and a modern take on the classic golf ball gearknob found in the original Mark II GTS.

Although the current generation of Scirocco is not destined for our market, the next gen is likely to see life in America, so hopefully the GTS will make it here eventually as well.
