Perhaps the most pure of sports cars, enthusiasts my cry foul about the next generation Porsche GT3 if the rumors prove true.
Speculation continues to swirl about the upcoming 2014 GT3’s transmission, with the latest reports once again indicating that it may come exclusively with a PDK dual-clutch transmission. This news seems particularly odd considering the effort Porsche has made recently to engineer a 7-speed stick shift for the new 911 models.
According to at least one report the next-gen GT3 will make use of a retuned version of the 3.8-liter flat-six, rather than the larger 4.0-liter unit used in the current GT3 RS. Power from the engine won’t disappoint, however, with 450 hp on tap. Also look for a weight reduction by close to 100 lbs.
The total package is expected to deliver next-level performance, especially with the current 911 Carrera S already performing on par with the current 997 GT3.
