Audi RS5 Convertible Likely Heading to U.S.

Audi RS5 Convertible Likely Heading to U.S.

A while back we saw the official trademark filing images for the Audi RS5 Cabriolet, confirming that the convertible variant was indeed making its way to production.

Now we have good reason to believe that the German automaker will bring its 450-hp, 4.2-liter V8 sports car to America. According to documents from the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the RS5 Convertible is being prepared for a U.S. launch.

CARB certifications are required for any vehicle that’s sold in California, ensuring that it meets the state’s strict emissions standards. Now, there are times automakers get approval on vehicles that never go on the market in America, but we’re doubtful that Audi would be making the preparations for both its RS5 Coupe and Convertible with no intentions of actually selling it. The Coupe variant has already been confirmed to the U.S., and given how popular convertibles are in America, it would hardly be a surprise to see.
