With how far turbocharger technology has improved over the recent years, automakers have been turning to that method of forced induction in order to make their vehicles more powerful and more fuel efficient.
It’s been 25 years since Ferrari has employed the use of turbochargers on its exotics, but that looks like it’s all about to change. A prototype Ferrari California was spotted getting put through its paces on Ferrari’s own Fiorano test track, clearly sounding like it’s packing a turbocharger or two in its engine bay. Unfortunately it’s difficult to tell whether or not it’s still a V8, but we wouldn’t be entirely surprised if Ferrari was testing a smaller powerplant mated to a pair of turbochargers.
