When the Ford Model T first debuted, it was praised for more than just the assembly line it rolled off of: the car was recognized for its durability.
Now, 98 years later, a Ford Model T will be making a trip around the world. The journey is the brainchild of Dirk and Trudy Regter, a couple from the Netherlands, the country of origin for the trip.
The duo will first set out south, and travel through Europe, then Africa. From there, the Model T will make the trip across the ocean to South America by boat, and then travel all the way North through Mexico and the U.S. to Canada. Once on the west coast, another ferry will take the couple to Australia, and from there they will travel through China and then Mongolia, Siberia, Russia and finally back to the Netherlands.
Encompassing 52,817 miles, the trek should take the couple two years if all goes as planned. Support for the SOS Children’s Villages charity is the purpose behind the journey. You can track the couples progress and donate to there cause by clicking here.
