Recently we caught spy photos of the Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG model testing, despite being under the shell of a standard SLS.

But it might be a while until we see the baby SLS AMG model, as the German automaker is worried that the costs of producing the SLC will be too high to target the Porsche 911 market. So for now, it seems that development will continue on the SLC, but the higher-ups haven’t signed off on the model for production yet.

Ideally, AMG engineers will now search for ways to reduce the production costs of the SLC without cutting any corners in order to get it approved for production. We’ll continue to keep our fingers crossed though that AMG will still launch the SLC in 2014, hopefully with a twin-turbo, 5.5-liter V8 under the hood.
