While the ongoing saga of Saab‘s bankruptcy seems to have no end, the Swedish automaker’s parts and service division has expanded to North America, offering the half a million Saab owners in the U.S. service for their vehicles.
Saab Automobile Parts is not part of the bankruptcy process and its North American expansion joins similar independent companies that have opened up in Great Britain and Sweden to service current Saab owners. Its CEO, Lennart Stahl, remains firm that it wishes to continue to take care of all Saab owners and will also be keeping the Trollhaetten factory alive. Saab Automobile Parts has established an agreement to utilize the factory’s press and body shop to make replacement parts such as hoods, doors, and fenders.
Even though the automaker is facing tough times currently, Stahl is certain that a new buyer will emerge soon and that the future is bright.
“There is no question that someone will take over the company,” he said. “We expect to hear something in the coming weeks. It looks promising.”
