Toyota in-house tuner TRD will debut a special version of the GT-86 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.
As we previously reported, TRD upgrades to the rear-wheel drive coupe don’t use forced induction systems. It does, however, include: a short-throw shifter, ten more horsepower, tire, wheel and brake upgrades and a body kit.
The 17-inch wheels with low rolling-resistance tires that come stock are replaced with black 18 inch wheels shod in Dunlop Sport Maxx rubber. The brake discs and calipers have been upgraded as well.
A new intake is teamed with a quad-tip exhaust to deliver the extra horsepower while the body kit adds new bumpers, side-skirts, a deck-lid spoiler and flared wheel arches. Finally, TRD badges add a noticeable touch. Hopefully these parts will soon show up on the large wall of accessories that is at every Scion dealership, something that is a major part of the marque’s branding. The TRD parts are available to Japanese and European customers, but word of U.S. distribution is still hazy.
