Thanks to Mazda’s Skyactiv engineering approach, the new Mazda6 will be several hundred pounds lighter than its predecessor. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that powers the CX-5 will likely be the base motor for the car, netting 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. A V6 option was discussed, but has reportedly been axed.
Do, however, expect to find the brand’s Skyactiv-D diesel powerplant offered, with the 2014 Mazda6 likely to be the first product to get the new diesel engine, which boasts roughly 165 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque.
From the video we can see many of the same lines as the Takeri concept, although the Mazda6 will probably be a little more tame design wise when it debuts.
Watch for the full reveal of the car at the 2012 Paris Auto Show.
