Audi RS5 Cabriolet Runs the ‘Ring in Latest Spy Photos

Hanging ’round the Nurburgring today, the AutoGuide photogs caught spy photos of the Audi RS5 Cabrio prototype taking laps.

Audi’s latest drop top sports car was little more than a rumor until recently when it was confirmed for production through a trademark filing. Another set of papers filed with the California Air Resources Board suggested that the car might even make it to North America, lighting anticipation among American Audi enthusiasts.

Such early pictures are often intentionally misleading as a measuring stick for what the production car will look like, but the mule seen above has much in common with the Audi RS5 except the obvious fabric substitution.

Expect the same 4.2-liter V8 as the RS5 coupe gets, which is sourced from the R8, with 444 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. A standard dual-clutch automated manual transmission will also almost surely put the engine’s power to the wheels.

Still, there are a few changes to the camo-wearing body seen above, like a rear diffuser that will almost certainly make it to the production model.
