Independence Day probably marks fireworks, good food and better company on your calendar, but it’s also the landmark for car theft to hit high gear according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
While summer is the worst season for car theft, July and August are the peak months to have your ride ripped off. Prevention methods have become a business unto themselves, with companies like Lojack selling aftermarket security systems and tracking devices to discourage thieves.
In cooperation with the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators, LoJack is also launching an awareness campaign meant to educate owners about common car theft facts. The infographic you see below is part of that campaign, offering a long list of facts and statistics.
