Chevrolet is taking a novel approach to distributing car care information for the Camaro ZL1 by offering a series of online videos to detail special care the car needs.

As much as you might want to believe that cars like the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 are bulletproof, they actually require special care that everyday commuter cars don’t, which is why the automaker provides owners with a series of special care videos.

The obvious still applies: there’s a break-in period for the engine where it shouldn’t exceed 4,000 rpms or 80 mph and any sort of aggressive driving including hard braking or full-throttle starts are off limits. Then there’s the care you probably wouldn’t know about.

For example: tires for the ZL1 can’t be rotated because each tire is specifically sized for the front and rear. Its brake also need to be burnished before track driving – which means the pads need to be heated in a controlled way to cure the part’s resin. Burnishing is done through several medium-strength brake applications are 0.4 Gs and several hard brake applications at 0.8 Gs.

Anyone who owns a ZL1 almost certainly knows about these videos, but for those interested, the complete explanation offers a look into performance car ownership that might not otherwise be obvious.
