After an announcement that it would be postponed as a result of wild fires, the Pikes Peak Hill Climb has now been rescheduled for August 12th.
That means we have a tad over a month more to wait before we can see Monster Tajima’s new Sport E-RUNNER EV tackle the hill climb, but at least the 90th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is back on the calendar. As much as the organizers hoped that all 211 racers and their crews originally committed to the July 8th date will make an appearance to the rescheduled event, they’re already aware of some drivers and racers that will not be attending due to scheduling conflicts.
In the wake of the natural disaster, however, drivers and racers are working to establish a fund to benefit those agencies that have battled the horrendous fires. The special fund will be established quickly to permit donations from drivers, racers, their sponsors, and the general public, with the proceeds heading to the local firefighting agencies.
Tickets previously purchased for the event will obviously be honored, though no general refunds will be made. Those ticket holders do, however, have the option of donating their tickets to the special support fund if they wish.
