You’d be surprised, my dads in his 60s and is currently on his 3rd Celica, a GT-Four WRC #97. He has his Lexus for comfort and the Toyota for fun. Maybe a GT86 sometime too..

This is a great write-up. I’m reading this segment after reading your second segment write-up; so, I’m going backwards. But, I really identify with your process and your new found passion for what this car is. I’m a little different in that I’ve driven a stick for many years and am probably a bit older than you (42). But, this car has brought out the “kid” in me in several ways. One way being the anticipation of getting the car. I made a decision over a month ago to get this car (after ALMOST buying a 2013 genesis coupe V6). And since that decision, searching for the exact one I want (firestorm red manual,) and getting on a couple waiting lists, I hope to take delivery next week (aug 1). So, it looks like this car will be a gift celebrating my mid-life crisis. While a lot of men go out and buy a more fancy sports car like a corvette, at least with the FR-S I won’t have to break the bank and still pay cash! I’ll be following your subsequent writ-ups and being living this experience side-by-side with you. Cheers!

I am taking delivery of a Firestorm Red as soon as the local dealership calls and says it its prepped and ready fo delivery.As far as ‘target demographics’ are concerned I guess we don’t fit the stereotypical mold! To hell with demographics and all that other hoy paloy! I hope you’re enjoying your new ride as much as I will mine!

I’m soon to turn 57 and never thought about what was the appropriate car for my age. Nothing about a 2nd childhood, nor mid-life crises. By this stage in my life I know what I want, and I didn’t think twice about purchasing my ultramarine blue FR-S. This car has taken driving to another level. It’s called fun!

I am not going through my second childhood,but, I wanted to drive an enjoyable car without going overboard on the m.s.r.p. My younger brother is 63 y.o. and raced at Road America the weekend of 07-1215/2012. He drives a vintage Porsche 911(MY1969) it is fully race prepped and he has a ball with competition driving! I guess it runs in the family?!?

I am taking delivery of a Firestorm-6AT this comong week( it is still in transit). I chose the AT for heavy stop/go traffic conditions and the better fuel economy.I don’t intend to participate in any” Track day”scenario and feel that the performance difference between manual & auto will be negligible in the real world.I tested a BRZ 6MT(Premium) and while it is/was a delight to drive the auto trans convenience won me over. Trunk space?Ha! But as long as I can load my axe/amp and a weekender I’m doing alright! I just turned 65 and thought would be an excellent B’day present! Keep up the good words and updates Sami! I’ll be watching for ya!
