Performance Par With Automotive Pacifism

Turbocharged with a lowered suspension and rear spoiler usually signal performance, but that couldn’t be farther from the case here.

A noticeable power increase kicks in around 4000 rpm when the small turbo spools up, and while that’s a welcome boost, it’s just enough to find highway speeds before running out of room with shorter on-ramps.

Don’t expect to pass anyone either. Aggressive downshifting makes for marginal gains and maddening noise as the engine screams in agony.

    That’s interesting…I think the interior is the best I have ever seen in a Chevy, let alone any domestic car.  Cheap Steering wheel?   Someone has too much time on their hands if they are concerned over a steering wheel.  And don’t plan on passing anyone?  HA!  I have seen more than 1 review saying of the lack of get up and go with the 1.4 turbo and you guys have to be driving something else, surely not my Cruze…

    I agree, my Cruze has lots of passing power. And off the line, it’s quicker than most cars in it’s class. And screaming, mine doesn’t scream. What impressed me on my first test drive was the little 1.4 turbo, actually gives you the performance feel of a V6 optional engine in other car lines. But you get great highway mileage. Just made my 17th payment on my Cruze, and I’m still impressed & completely satisfied every time I drive it. Great little car!

    ummm, that’s kind of the main idea behind Five-Point inspection. Short, and too the point.

    In luxury car , Chevrolet is one of the leading name. When I saw this car , This car attracts me . Impressive design done by designers team of GM. They had taken a lot of hard work and effoerts to make it. The color combination and other features are good . and its specifiation and fuel economy are plus points of this car.

    Not really impressed with the article.  What aspect of the ECO’s steering wheel is cheap, and by comparison to what other car(s)?

    And the section about the performance is very ill-informed.  Turbo spools at 4k = Bull.  Sure maybe it isn’t the fastest economical car on the market, but the power delivery is strong and I think more useful than most naturally aspirated four cylinders.
