Chevrolet is recalling 7,161 Sonic vehicles from the 2012 model year in Canada due to a problem with the windshield washer fluid hoses.
On some Chevy Sonics, the windshield washer hose can become disconnected from the washer fluid reservoir, and leave the wiper blades without access to fluid. In this event, the driver can lose visibility which could lead to a collision.
The recall was announced by Transport Canada today, and will likely spread to the States in the next few days. Canadian Sonic owners can expect the repair to be carried out by the brand’s dealer network free of charge.
UPDATE: NHTSA has announced that 44,668 Sonic vehicles have now been recalled in the U.S. for the same windshield washer fluid hose issue. For more info, contact the NHTSA safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
