The Lincoln MKT is about to get a 4-cylinder engine option, though you won’t be able to buy it. The new EcoBoost 4-cylinder will only be available on the MKT Town Car, built for fleet use by livery companies.
By the end of this year, the American automaker will offer its 2.0-liter, four-cylinder EcoBoost engine that’s found in the Ford Edge and Explorer models sporting 235-hp. The front-wheel drive model will be priced at $49,845, which is only $1,100 cheaper than its 3.7-liter V6 counterpart. While you won’t be saving much when purchasing the vehicle, the 20/28-mpg fuel economy might be more attractive 17/24-mpg from the 3.7-liter V6. The Lincoln MKT also has an option for a 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost with 365-hp, which achieves 16/23-mpg in all-wheel drive form, while the front-wheel drive V6 EcoBoost is rated at 17/25-mpg.
It will be interesting to see if consumers are willing to go for the four-cylinder model despite the trivial price difference.
