Chevrolet recently released the Camaro SS 1LE, a track-focused car meant for going fast and taking turns with ease, and professional driver Todd Napieralski is putting it to the test and readying the car for SCCA T2 competition.
This will be the first iteration of the 1LE to compete in the SCCA club racing national championship. The car is still being fine-tuned by the racing club, although Napieralski says that it already handles very well. He is also a die hard Camaro fan who has driven the Chevy muscle car since he was first able licensed.
The 1LE uses the same 6.2L V8 engine as the Camaro SS, which makes 426-hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. Performance upgrades on the 1LE package include thicker sway bars, upgraded half-shafts, new wheel bearings, toe links, a strut tower brace and monotube dampers borrowed from the ZL1, as well as a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission, 285/35/20 tires, a tranny cooler and a high-flow fuel pump.
