According to several reports, Dodge is preparing to announce its withdrawal from NASCAR today.

Rumored first began earlier this year when long time Dodge team Penske Racing announced it would partner with Ford for the 2013 series. Currently only two Dodge teams compete in the stock car series, both of which are run by Penske.

Dodge is expected to announce later this morning its motorsports plans for next season and notably absent on the list will be any mention of NASCAR. Instead its expected that parent company Chrysler will focus on its new SRT performance brand, which kicked off a racing offensive this weekend as the Viper returned to the American Le Mans Series.

The Viper team completed its goal of finishing the race with both cars intact and will continue testing for the remainder of the season as it prepares to challenge series leaders Porsche, BMW and Ferrari as well as arch rivals at Corvette Racing.
