America has been notorious for missing out on awesome, high-performance cars from Japan, and now we’ll get to miss out on a 335-hp Subaru WRX STI.

Dubbed the WRX STI 340R, this all-wheel drive sports car also packs 361 lb-ft of torque, an impressive 71 lb-ft increase compared to the North American WRX STI model. The power upgrades come courtesy of a retuned ECU, a new intake, and a more-efficient exhaust system. Of course the vast majority of WRX STI owners in America bolt-on their own performance parts to achieve even better figures. But the idea of getting this performance straight from the factory is enticing.

About the only good thing about North Americans missing out on a more powerful WRX STI variant is its pricing. The WRX STI 340R starts at around $45,000 based on recent conversion rates, which is quite a bit to spend for a WRX.
