Ah – you are correct. Guess I should have QC’d it a bit more myself (I read right through that comma). I agree with your wording J Mack – it would have certainly read better with a simple “which is” thrown in there.

Actually, I think the comma after “3,400″ indicates the appropriate pause.
Although it might read a little more clearly if it said “That means that the new 2014 Mazda6 will weigh somewhere between 3,000
lbs and 3,400 lbs, which is less than the Dodge Dart or ChevroletCruze compact sedans.”
