Leaking through the cover of a magazine set to hit newsstands tomorrow, what could very well be the BMW 1 Series GT is now out in the open.
Set to debut later this month at the Paris Motor Show, the production ready concept is said to be front-wheel drive and share its platform with new models from brand subsidiary MINI, powered by a four cylinder engine. There are also rumors suggesting the car might come as a hybrid and EV later down the line.
In either case, this will be Bimmer’s answer to the all-new Mercedes A-Class that debuted in Geneva to much enthusiasm. Demand for small cars is growing rapidly and as much as this looks like a departure from the cars BMW makes, he company doesn’t really have a choice if it wants to compete with Audi and Mercedes.
More information is expected soon about the car, in fact very soon. After leaking, reports suggest the automaker will release information on the car as early as later today.
