Apart from building powerful sports cars, Porsche cars are renowned for razor-sharp handling which is something Porsche hopes to boost further in the next generation 911 Turbo by adding four-wheel steering according to recent reports.
According to AutoBild, the new car will have 530 hp and make its auto show debut sometime this fall before going on sale in the spring of 2014.
Four-wheel steering is nothing new, in fact it can be found in cars dating back to the late 30’s albeit not in such sophisticated forms. More recently, the Mitsubishi 3000GT took advantage of that technology. At low speeds, the front and rear wheels turn in opposite directions to reduce the car’s turning radius but while travelling faster, the rears turn in the same direction.
