After claiming its first-ever pole position, the Toyota TS030 Hybrid race car has scored its first victory in the latest round of the FIA World Endurance Championship in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Its an historic first win for the Japanese automaker, after both TS030 prototype race cars failed to finish at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans race. Since then Toyota has taken back seat to the dominance of Audi.

Piloted by Nicolas Lapierre and Alex Wurz, the TS030 put on a dominant display leading the entire race from start to finish. More surprising, Toyota claimed the victory over Audi by over a minute.

Toyota will look to repeat its success while Audi hopes to put a stop to it in the next round of the FIA WEC at the 6 hours of Bahrain on Sept. 29th.
