1. It's Faster

It may be hard to believe but the Accord will out drag-race a Camaro.

Now we’re not talking about a 426 hp Camaro SS, but just a regular old V6 model. Still, with 312-hp on tap the Camaro’s numbers are bigger than the Accord at 278-hp, but it also weighs 350-lbs more.

According to Chevrolet the Camaro will hit 60 mph in just under 6.0 seconds while Honda says the Accord will do it in 5.5 seconds, if not better. And if that’s not enough, comparing the Accord’s six-speed manual transmission to that of the Camaro’s is like comparing a Swiss watch to a sun dial.

Camaro:  built in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.  That’s Canada.  Some may even speak French.
Accord:  built in Marysville, Ohio, USA.  USA.  By American workers.

Have a 2011 6 speed coupe with the sport suspension and ground effects turns heads everywhere!

By American workers, many of whom may have been born in (shudder) other countries and even (horrors) speak Spanish

Bought my 2009 beginning Sept. 2009, totally brand new (0K’s), full sports package and my car has been awesome as well as attracting attention since Day 1.  (Think the dealership may owe me since my car & I have made them some sales just drivin’ around, lol).  And that’s just the looks, car has never cost me a dime (other than oil changes) which beats GM (had a Gran Prix before), two years old and the ignition refused to accept my key…over $900.00 later as well as a tow as well as other small issues that wound-up costing thousands over the years, I was just waiting for the day to say good-bye to GM (and I live close to a GM town).  You may pay a bit more for a Honda but knowing your car will work is a huge incentive. Maybe my GP was a lemon but I wasn’t going to take a chance again and so far my Coupe hasn’t locked me out like the GP did, lol.

Have the 2012 Acura TL V-6; love this car’s ride and want the V-6 Accord Coupe; they’re holding them back; the “Dreams engine” Honda V-6 sedan is out now; however the coupe is platform that the Acura TLX will be built upon next year, and that explains my quest for locating a v-6 Coupe, now; they don’t exist because they haven’t delivered them yet.
Love the accelerator “by wire” that is on the V-6 cars; one-to-one foot pressure and acceleration; press the accelerator and a commensurate amount of power is delivered in a 1:1 ratio.
It’s so reassuring to feel that control.

I wonder just how good a pony car built by Honda would be.  Probably just the best.

  • Melissa

Yes, I loved my Prelude. Would like to see a Honda sports car again.

I’ve owned older iterations of both cars..and there is NO COMPARISON in quality. Like they said…like a Swiss watch versus a sun dial. Honda owners repeat for a reason. Once you own one you’ll understand.

“…the biggest knock against the Accord Coupe is that it’s the exact car you expect your mother to drive.”

Well, if you like performance more than you like looking like a “boy racer,” mom’s car isn’t a bad choice, if you’re over the age of, say, 25.

Your ignorance is amazing Marysville and the state of Ohio is about as American as you get.
