2014 Mercedes E-Class Revealed in Spy Photos

The highly anticipated next iteration of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has just been caught testing in these spy photos, shown here in AMG form.

The biggest change coming to the car is the deletion of the classic quad-headlight design in favor of two single units, although the lights still have a separation down the middle to give the illusion of four single lights. This is in an attempt to unify the brand’s styling on all models, as can be seen by the C-Class looking front end on the new E.

Under the hood of the E63 AMG will likely live the bi-turbo 5.5-liter V-8 that makes 518 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, already in use is some current AMG models.

It was reported that the car would lose its pontoon styling, but the pictures show that the full-body belt line stays intact. The new E-Class will be packed with all of Mercedes’  best new tech, including night assistant, dynamic light assistant, intelligent lane assistant, intelligent brake assistant, congestion assistant, magic ride control and heads-up display. It’s also apparent from the photo that it will get a panoramic glass roof, likely with magic sky control.

  • Looks like they’re doing something interesting with the rear window and the roof glass. It looks as if the rear glass may come all the way up to the sunroof.Perhaps to increase rear visibility and create an airier cabin environment.
