BMW threw a curve ball when it didn’t show off its 3-Series GT model at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, choosing instead to debut its Concept Active Tourer. But if these spy photos are of any indication, the German automaker will reveal its 3 Series GT very soon.
Sporting relatively little camouflage, the 3 Series GT was spotted doing some rigorous track testing, even getting one wheel off the ground. It is built on the long wheelbase platform of the 3 Series sedan offered in China and will share the same powertrain options as the standard 3 Series models. It doesn’t appear that the German automaker will be producing an M variant of its 3-Series GT, which is understandable.
BMW has not said if the 3 Series GT will be offered in America, though if it is, don’t be surprised to find the usual gasoline engines as well as a new 2.0-liter diesel that has already been confirmed for sale in the US.
