Renault’s sports car caught made a splash big enough to justify production, or so it seems.
Last May, the Renault Alpine A110-50 concept was unveiled boasting a mid-mounted 3.5-liter V6 powerplant with 400 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque.
The Renault–Nissan alliance is currently in talks with Caterham to co-produce a car set to resurrect the Alpine name. The new sports car will be based on the A110-50 concept and the joint venture would actually produce two models: An Alpine-badged version sold by Renault-Nissan and another for Caterham itself.
If everything does go as planned, we could see a production model within the next couple of years. But chances are, it won’t make its way to American shores anytime soon.
