Toyota is recalling about 655 FJ Cruiser vehicles equipped with TRD brake kits because the outer brake tube can become damaged, and leak brake fluid.

Model year 2007 through 2012 FJ’s equipped with TRD high performance braking kits, parts number PTR09-35070 or PTR09-35100, installed by a Toyota dealership are affected by this recall. This issue is, if wheel balancing weights are installed in an incorrect location, they can contact the outer brake tube and cause brake fluid to leak. This can result in loss of brake pressure, or complete loss of the front brakes.

Toyota will notify applicable clients, and replace the outer brake tube with a redesigned one. This service will be performed even if the FJ is equipped with regular 16 inch or 17 inch wheels, or TRD 16 inch Beadlock ring type wheels, which are not affected by the condition, as a precaution in the event that the wheels are changed at a later date.
